With his teenage years spent creating music videos and short films, John opted for real world experience over a university degree. After a few years of honing his skills as a freelancer (Barbican, Jaguar Land Rover) he joined a boutique London production company Social Films, conceptualising, shooting, editing, and directing projects (British Airways, IAG, the Roundhouse, Hitachi, Alexandra Palace).
John then moved on to major marketing projects for the health industry through agency Fixing Us, for the top line of pharmaceutical companies(AstraZeneca, Roche, Boehringer Ingelheim, Benecol) before becoming in house at one of the UK’s leading cultural institutions, the British Museum, where he lead the creation of some of the most successful Youtube films, plus the campaign video for the Museum’s major ‘Masterplan’ project.
John has also created personal projects such as ‘Our Land’, a documentary short covering the Dartmoor wild camping legal battle, which has been screened across the UK and featured in BBC news.
From filming orphaned elephants in Kenya ,to celebrity opera at 30,000ft, from technical industry internal videos to short documentaries, John has created high standard content with a diverse range of people, budgets, formats, industries, and challenges, for some of the world’s leading brands.
He has honed his talents to specialise in making video content punch well above their weight; taking tight deadlines and micro budgets and transforming the production value, ROI, and utility of the videos he produces, often himself leading the project from start to finish.
John was our video producer and editor for a number of years and he always gave 100% to every project, every time. He is a highly creative and skilled production professional with a strong understanding of documentary and corporate filmmaking. Beyond this, John is genuinely a joy to work with – a seamless and collaborative member of our team and we know he will go on to benefit many others!
